DR. EDGAR L. HOUSEL 1866-1924

Edgar L. Housel was born at McEwensville on April 21, 1866 to Dr. Joseph R. and Rebecca J. (Smith) Housel.  On April 1, 1878 he and his family moved to Watsontown where he attended Watsontown High School.  He went to Pennsylvania Dental College at Philadelphia where he graduated in 1888 and returned to Watsontown to open up a partnership in the dentistry business with his father.

Edgar married Mary Clemence Heilman on December 12, 1888.  Mary was born on November 24, 1866.  Edgar and Mary had two children: Edith M., b. January 1891; and Fred H., b. July 1892.  They were members of the Methodist Church.  He was a member of Watsontown Lodge, No. 401, F. & A.M. being raised to Master Mason on January 16, 1889. 

Dr. Edgar L. Housel was elected Chief Burgess and served from 1900-1902.

Mary died on March 28, 1921 and Edgar died three years later on February 20, 1924.  They are both buried in Watsontown Cemetery.
