WILLIAM C. BRIMMER 1862-1944
William C. Brimmer was born in Altoona in 1862 to Samuel and Tillie Brimmer. The family moved to Milton when William was 12 years old. He moved to Watsontown in 1887 where he began a partnership with Spencer Lawson as a merchant tailor. The following year he purchased Mr. Lawson’s interest and continued the business on his own.
William C. Brimmer served one term on town council from 1900 to 1902 serving the last two years as its president; and as Chief Burgess from 1910 to 1912.
William C. Brimmer was married on October 31, 1890 to Virginia F. Gardner who was originally from Turbotville. They were married by Geo. L. Van Alen of Watsontown. They had a daughter, Rebecca V. born in 1902 (saleswoman in jewelry store) who was married to Russell G. McClintock and they had three children: William, b. 1924; Thomas, b. 1927; and Jean Ann, b. 1929. Mr. Brimmer was a stalwart Republican and took considerable interest in the success of his party. He was a member of the Knights of the Golden Eagle, I.O.O.F., and Jr. O.U.A.M. He was a member of Watsontown Lodge No. 401 having been made a Master Mason on December 8, 1908. He resigned from the Lodge on September 3, 1935.
Virginia died in 1926. William died in 1944. They are both buried in Watsontown Cemetery.
