As in any political body there are a number of branches and agencies that are established to help carry out the functions of said political entity. So it is with the community of Watsontown. The following information concerns the governing bodies of Watsontown established by its Constitution. The authority of the executive branch to carry out the ordinances (laws) of Watsontown is vested in the position of Mayor since January 1962. Prior to that time, the executive officer for the borough was the Chief Burgess. The Borough Council (formerly the Town Council) has charge of creating ordinances for the community allowing for peace and harmony amongst the citizens of Watsontown. Together, the Mayor and Borough Council manage and oversee various departments and agencies to enforce the ordinances, protect the community, and maintain order within the community of Watsontown. These departments and agencies include the police department, the fire department, the park commission, the street commission, the cemetery association, along with others.
