Hope For Today United Pentecostal Church
The first service held by the newly organized Hope For Today United Pentecostal Church took place on March 4, 2007 at Watsontown. The church was established as an affiliate of the United Pentecostal Church in Lewisburg. The hopes and prayers of the congregation are to become an autonomous congregation that can be an active part of the community and assist those who are in need. Fifty-six people gathered for that first service and approximately fifteen have become regular attenders. In addition to the pastor’s wife, Stephanie Moore, and their middle son, Troy Moore, leaders include Allen Keister.
The church is part of the larger denomination known as the United Pentecostal Church International which was established in 1916 when a number of ministers withdrew from the Assemblies of God. The reason for the change was based on the various views concerning the oneness of God and also water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.
The pastor serving the congregation is Dennis E. Moore who was licensed with the United Pentecostal Church International in 2001 and has served as an Outreach Director, Youth Pastor, Pastoral Assistant, and as Pastor in Unityville, PA. In addition, Pastor Moore is a certified Drug and Alcohol counselor with the A.C.T.S. Program of the UPCI.
