SAMUEL MORRIS MOSER 1898-1962
Samuel Morris Moser was born near Lewisburg on January 13, 1898 the youngest of William and Barbara Elizabeth (Ickes) Moser’s six children.  S. Morris’ father just turned 52 the month after Morris was born and died before Morris turned twelve years old.  By 1910 Barbara and her two youngest sons had moved to Watsontown.  Morris’ mother died on September 6, 1936.  Morris began work as a laborer at the brick yard and eventually opened and operated his own appliance store in Watsontown.  Morris fought in World War II serving in the 433rd Single Engineer Flying Squadron at Napier Field, Ala.

S. Morris Moser was elected Chief Burgess on November 4, 1941.  He was sworn in on January 5, 1942 and served until the end of 1945.  According to the National Archives, Samuel M. Moser, b. 1898 enlisted on July 20, 1942 at Harrisburg, PA as a private – single and without dependents.

Mr. Moser was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he served on the Church Consistory as a Deacon from 1934 to 1941 and then as Elder from 1942 to 1947 having served as secretary of that body from 1939 to 1942.  He was a member of the West Branch Volunteer Fire Company, the American Legion, Clyde F. Mowrer Post No. 323, and the Forty and Eight Voiture.  Morris died on his 64rth birthday, January 13, 1962 and was buried at Watsontown Cemetery.
